Creative side, soap box

Personally, I think it's great for writers to show their creative sides in ways other than writing. I've seen writer-bloggers dancing, singing, playing guitar, planting trees, etc. Me, I'm planning on sewing this weekend (see fabric photo). What (besides writing) do you do to create?

In other news, the national media is apparently blasting the good people of Colorado Springs for voting to not increase property taxes...the media is saying our city is going to fall apart because we're not willing to pay for this, that, and the other. I actually voted for the increase, because I had the $ to pay for it. But many people didn't. And I applaud those people for saying, "Hey, if we don't have the $, we shouldn't be spending it."

Photo of mountains (note to Jonathon: don't they look purple?) is from my bedroom. Not every person in CO Spgs has that view from inside their house, but everyone can literally walk about a minute from anywhere and see it. And it didn't cost a thing. So there.

Anita-- I love to crochet, and take photos. And mess around with glitter with the kids. Boy, I am just revealing all sorts of things about myself today.

I cook (and does it count to eat too). I also garden, right now with icicles but in the summer other things do grow here! I consider yoga to be creative, it feeds me in the same way. And last night my son had to decorate a box to collect valentines at school. I got embarrassingly involved in the project. But I have to say that it is the best looking box ever.

Gosh, do I go on.

I crochet, I cook, I sing, I love making home movies on the computer. And I've always admired the way people think in Colorado :)

Wow, those mountains are gorgeous! What a view!
As you know, I dance and sing...sometimes not well. :) I can't sew a stitch to the chagrin of my hubby...And he's a better cook than I.
I also enjoy photography very much!

HEATHER: My mom crochets and I had her do these cute doilies for me in a color I like and then I arranged them in a fun way and framed them. I love them and she thinks it's a hoot. Also, she made this thick Clint Eastwood kind of poncho for Husband, which he actually wears.

TINA: What? And no photo of the box?! I hope it survived the party.

JONATHON: Will head over to the photo soon. I love our view...an certain twelve story building will be raised in our backyard any day now...one good thing about the sucky economy: less building! :)

SHERRIE: Hopefully, you're staying away from Minny's pie recipe. :)

KELLY: Right under that view and about 100 yards away is the back of the kids' school. Parking lot and trash cans...someday we'll plant a few strategically placed trees.

Um... I just write. I love to look at photography & painting... Arts need an audience - we need readers - so, the audience, that's what else I do.

Wow you can see those mountains from your bedroom window! That is so thrilling.

I just signed up to draw ducks and participate at Creative Tuesday! Want to see my ducks? Well I don't have ducks only turkeys and peacocks but I don't think there are that much different. Feathers, beak, feet.

I do needlepoint.

Not really.

I am almost always in favor of voting down a tax hike. Library funding is a notable exception.

ROBERT: I like the audience angle...we use that a lot at my kids (art-integrated) school...even if the kids don't become artists themselves, they'll be an educated audience. Hmmm.

OCEAN GIRL: For sure I've got to see those ducks! You have a great life.

PMM: The library is funded separately...I would've been protesting up and down the streets if I thought the libraries wouldn't be funded.

Is that really the view from your home? Absolutely stunning! Someday...

Anita said...

CHARLIE: Yep, it's the view...I guess I've started taking it for granted. But lots of other people have that view, too. It's a beautiful town, Colorado Springs.

I was looking at Colorado Springs real estate sites today; there's no way to know which area's are right for us. When the time comes (about ten years - lol) I'll e-mail you.

CHARLIE: Yes! We'd love to have you here in CO SPGS...great place to live and wonderful writing community.

Great view. Wow. Out my bedroom window I see up the street. But I only have to drive a minute to see the ocean, and that's golden to a Pisces like me. You probably know about my veggie pun drawings. I don't have time for anything else.

As a fellow Colorado Springser... Springsite?... Springsian? whatever, I have a fairly similar view out my bedroom window as well except that I have a few rooftops I have to look over. BTW I voted against the tax hike because I can find plenty of ways to cut the city budget while not reducing services at all. Unfortunately govt waste and inefficiency seems to be everywhere.

Oh...and for my creative side besides writing: I build model train layouts.

MG: Am so jealous of the ocean proximity! And yes, of course, I love your veggie drawings!

TOP DRAGON: I went back and forth on the tax hike thing. I know there had to be ways to save $ and make everything work out, but I didn't want to risk it, because my kiddos use the parks so much. There is a general distrust in gov't here, I think. Husband is considering running for mayor.

Model train layouts?! That's cool!
