A big, fat THANK YOU! And, and, etc.

Thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday's NAME THAT CHARACTER event. I'm going to switch back and forth between Noah and Benjy, and see what I feel most comfortable with.

Honestly, I liked all the names, but I've got a real picture of the kid in my head, and Benjy and Noah fit him best. Third choice is Asher, but my good friend has a son named Asher and so I keep picturing that little guy's face. Doesn't work.

Benjamin is a son of Jacob (so is Asher, BTW), and my daughter is in a JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT production right now. The Benjamin in the production is just adorable and kinda looks like the kid in my head.

I like Noah because there's a lot of water symbolism in my story. You know, the story I'm writing in a pool. Note to self: actually type the story out some day.

Finally, I love how you were all asking deeper questions about the kid, his background and his family. Me thinks we're all getting smarter about this writing stuff.

And finally, finally...another THANK YOU. You all are wonderful.

AND...remember the whole naming the planet thing from a long time ago? Now that manuscript--with a planet named Kitrino--is actually being submitted to editors. You never know. You just don't.

AND, AND...the Sara who commented during yesterday's event is probably my agent. This tells me (as I've told you all numerous times) that agents and editors visit blogs. In fact, one of Sara's most recently acquired clients found her way to Sara via blogging channels. Blog, people. Blog carefully. Blog talentedly. (If that's not a word, it should be).

Write on!

Blog like you!

I love the Noah choice. Both, I love Benjy too. Have a BIL with that name.

Great picks and I loved everyone's suggestions because my next project is a YA and I need boy names!!
I like Benji and Noah but with the water connection, Noah is all the more intriguing!
And I love, love, love Joseph! I saw Donny Osmond as Joseph and it was amazing. I have the CD.

I like Noah. Not so much Benjy. Too dog-related.

(What's BIL of which Tina speaks? Boy I Love? Bile Infected Lung?)

TINA: You are sweet! I try to blog well...sometimes I get a little sidetracked, but what the heck, right?

DARBY: Believe me, you'll all know if I get a sale. And I think you're doing a great job with your blog.

KELLY: Keep the list of names...good ones here! You know the girls all did SEUSS this summer. Then Middle Daughter did a funny murder mystery play at school. Oldest Daughter is now in Joseph. It runs four days/week for weeks. And she just got in a school musical (LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS) that starts rehearsals in January. Youngest Daughter auditioned yesterday for ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Ozzy is siiiick of all the corny music. He's threatening to run away.

MG: You know what? I'll have to ask my kids what they think of the name Benjy. I think the dog stuff is so old that that aspect wouldn't even occur to them. I'll get back to you. Oh, I think it's bro-in-law, but it might be one of things you were thinking.

Oh, brother in law!! Thank you. Yes, Benji was a while back. Yet it seems like only yesterday....

Ha! Yes, BIL = brother-in-law who had to go to school with that name while Benji the dog was all the rage. And my hubby's middle name is Morris - if you remember that famous animal. I just think my MIL had her finger on the pulse of up and coming animal talent. Although my 8 year old daughter just told me that both me and hubby's middle names were awkward.

Hey fellow writers: Would it be okay if I took "Asher" back as a name? He just showed up in my current WIP without any warning!

MG: I'm sure a re-make is right around the corner.

TINA: I love your name! Your MIL sounds interesting. We never bash names around here, as we take some ribbing for Boy's name.

DARBY: Have at it. I like the name. Note that he does sell his brother as a slave in another book. :)

COLD & ALL: Between you and me, I wouldn't send Sara anything until 2011.
