For those of you who are new to this blog and/or those of you who only sorta pay attention, I'm a kids' ebook author. The first ebook I independently published is a middle grade science fiction titled EARTHLING HERO. Recently, Husband and I made a couple videos about the process of epubbing. While listening to myself speak on the subject of ebook covers, I realized I hadn't been listening to my own advice. So I fixed that by changing my EARTHLING HERO cover. That's why it looks different to those of you who aren't new to the blog and/or those of you who have been paying attention. :)
Any questions? Seriously, do you have any?

...the new cover's a thing of beauty, Anita. It should do well in attracting a YA male crowd.
Well done ;)
EL
There's a lot of text on it.
Love it! Especially Mikey's quote in the middle - perfect :)
ELLIOT: Thank you! I think the audience's upper range is age 12, but we'll take all the readers we can get. :)
TONY: Your comments always make me laugh. It is text heavy, but so is SCARY. SCARY is selling very well and we wondered if it was all the text on the cover. Trying out a new cover is free and easy, so we thought, What the heck? Might as well.
JEMI: Thank you for your support!!!
I liked the old one, but this is cool, too. You have to zoom in to read the quotes, but that's fine.
I zoom into every cover that catches my eye because I am too detail-oriented when it comes to visuals. This one catches my attention, esp. the first quote :P
I think there are too many words in the middle.
MATTHEW: I know! We've (Husband and I) discussed this all at length. The thing is, something's making that SCARY book sell, so we wanted to see if it was all the words on the cover. If we see a dip in EH sales, we'll just change back to the old cover. That's one of the advantages of this epubbing thing...kinda like changing price...people do that a lot.
JONATHON: I'm the same way. If color and overall aesthetic pull me in, then I'll zooooom and go from there. I have no idea what will happen, really. We shall see.
MICHAEL: You may very well be right. I'll track sales over the next couple weeks and let you all know here if I saw any significant change (up or down) after the cover change.
I like it! It's funny and interest-piquing. I'll be curious if it makes a difference in sales.
I do like this cover better than the other one. I think the picture of the earth from space makes it seem more about aliens than the other one.
And I'm so glad you are seeing good sales on Scary Good Book!
MG: Thank you! I'm curious, too.
KELLY: If anything, this one looks fresh to me. I may do some tweaking of the book's description on eretailers, too. Fingers crossed.
Love the graphic feel of it. Words a little hard to read in those particular colors. But it may just be my computer. Or my eyes. Whichever one is older.
DARBY: Thank you for your input! And speaking of old computers, we've got a couple dinosaurs here.
Love the new cover. Quotes are so cool and I love the way they work altogether. :) Glad to hear Scary Good Book is doing well. :)
